South Lakes Drama Opens ‘Leading Ladies’ Thursday

Leading Ladies at South Lakes High SchoolSouth Lakes High School’s Theatre Arts Department opens its fall play Leading Ladies Thursday at the school’s Little Theatre.

Leading Ladies is a farcical comedy by playwright Ken Ludwig.

The play, set in York, Pa., in 1958, centers on two down-on-their-luck Shakespearean actors, Leo Clark and Jack Gable. When they discover that a rich old lady has been unable to find  Max and Steve, her sister’s children, to include them in her multi-million dollar inheritance, they decide to pose as Max and Steve.

Even after they discover that “Max” and “Steve” are actually “Maxine” and “Stephanie,” they continue the ruse in drag, and, as one can imagine, hilarity and misunderstanding ensue.

Performances are Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m.; Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m.

Pre-sale tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for students and seniors on South Lakes Drama’s website. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $12.
