Not Celebrating Christmas? Some Places To Go Tuesday, Wednesday

hava nagila the movieTuesday night is Christmas Eve, and most places will be closed so families can celebrate.

But a couple of events are happening nearby on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day — most of them geared towards Jewish people.

So, if your holiday was Hanukkah, which started the day before Thanksgiving this year and ended in early December, here are a couple of ideas for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day fun.

Rob Tannenbaum’s “Good for the Jews” show — Tanennbaum and David Fagin return to Vienna’s Jammin’ Java with their humor and music show. Tuesday, 7 p.m. Jammin’ Java, 227 Maple Ave. E, Vienna. Tickets: $20. Visit Jammin’ Java’s website to purchase tickets.

The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is hosting  J Fest on Wednesday (Christmas Day). The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  at 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax. This annual family event features  games, arts and crafts, and a moon bounce. Kosher  food will be served. Cost: $20 per family/ $15 JCCNV members.

Also on Christmas Day, the JCC will hold a screening of “Hava Nagila (The Movie),” a documentary about  the history, mystery and meaning of the iconic Jewish song.  The movie will air at 3 p.m. at the JCC. . Tickets are $9/$6 for JCCNV members. Visit the JCC’s ticket site for advance purchase.

Most movie theaters in the area will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Visit sites for Bow Tie Reston Cinema 11 or AMC Phoenix Worldgate 9  to see showtimes close to home.
