Public art at Reston Station

New School Improvement Leaders for FCPS — The Fairfax County Public Schools have hired new executive principals and executive principals for school improvement, including Evangeline Petrich, who has served as director of Cluster 4 since 2012. Petrich will lead will be the new executive principal for Region 1, which includes the Langley, Madison, Herndon, South Lakes, and Oakton pyramids. [FCPS]

Summer Meals For School Kids — FCPS will participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) summer food service program for children, a program established to ensure that students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals during the school year continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Meals will be provided to all children without charge in many locations including breakfast and lunch at Reston locations: Aldrin, Lake Anne, Forest Edge, Dogwood ES and Langston Hughes MS. SmarTrips at Walmart  — Metro announced that SmarTrip cards can now be purchased or reloaded at select D.C.-area Walmart stores. The closest location to Reston where SmarTrip is available is 1500 B Cornerside Boulevard, Vienna. [Metro]
