Fairfax County firefighters rescued a cat from a fire that damaged a row of townhomes on Golf Course Drive on Monday.
Marcus, an older male tabby, was removed from his home at 2050 Golf Course. Rescue crews gave him oxygen and Animal Control took him to his veterinarian’s office as a precaution. Another cat remained in the home and had not been located as of about 5:20 p.m. Monday.
Firefighters were called to 2052 Golf Course, the end unit in a row of homes, about 4:30 p.m. said Fire Chief Richard Bowers.
Bowers said a preliminary investigation showed the fire began in the rear of 2052 and spread to 2050. Homes at 2048, 2046 and 2044 also suffered smoke damage, said Bowers.
The fire was put out quickly and there were no injuries.
The amount of damage and the cause of the fire are not yet known.
