Reston Community Center Launching Online Learning Program

RCC elearning1Reston Community Center is now offering access to UGotClass, an online learning portal that features more than 100 personal and professional development courses that work towards “Skills for the 21st Century,” says RCC.

RCC has partnered with Learning Resources Network (LERN) for the catalogue or non-credit and certificate courses. RCC Executive Director Leila Gordon says offering UGotClass, complements its program offerings to give a career boost to people in fields like business, eMarketing and social media for business, the green workplace, health, leadership training and education.

“For most people, it is getting harder to schedule their lives,” said Gordon. “So the more we have to bring classes and learning enrichment to wherever people are.”

Among the course offerings: Mobile Marketing Certification; Certificate in Non-Profit Administration; Business Research Certificate; Google Apps for Business; Podcasting; and course on using social media for business. Course fees vary. Check out the online catalogue on UGotClass.

The online courses are taught by leading practitioners and teachers, with audio presentations from the teacher and interaction with other participants and the teacher. LERN offers certificates, CEUs, ILUs, and some courses even have optional graduate credit, says RCC.

Most course are offered four times a year, with classes beginning on the first Monday of the month.

“At RCC, we continue to look for ways to provide our community with convenient and flexible learning opportunities while reducing the barriers of time, place, and cost of travel,” said Eileen Boone, RCC’s Leisure & Learning Director; “eLearning@RCC allows the busy adult who is managing work and family obligations the flexibility to improve on existing skills, add new skills, earn a professional certificate or to retool for new career opportunities from the comfort of their own home, a local library, or an internet café anytime day or night, from any computer.”
