Three Seats Open for RCC’s Board of Governors

Reston Community CenterReston Community Center is seeking candidates to run for seats on its Board of Governors.

Three seats will be open in this year’s Preference Poll. The Preference Poll is a community event held annually to guide selection of members to serve on the Board of Governors. The Board establishes the overall policies for RCC and priorities for its programs and budget.

Members also represent RCC at social, recreational, cultural and educational activities in Reston. Voters are members of Small Tax District 5 (Reston), which supports the community center, its programs and activities.

All residents of Small District 5, age 18 or older, are eligible to run for appointment to the board. Candidates must complete a Candidacy Statement in order to have their names placed on the Preference Poll ballot. Candidacy Statements will be available at RCC facilities or online at www.restoncommunitycenter.com beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1. The deadline for candidacy filing is 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15.

Online and mail-in balloting and walk-in voting will be available from Sept. 9 through Sept. 30. Mail-in ballots must be received by RCC’s Counting Agent no later than Sept. 29.

The RCC Board appointments are made by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors after voters have made their preferences known in the annual poll.
