RA’s WebTrac Now Open For Ease in Program Registration

Reston Association board members are touting it as a one-stop shop that will allow residents to buy passes, sign up for community events like summer camps, and more, all in one convenient place.

WebTrac, RA’s new online registration system, is expected to fully launch in January, but board members are encouraging residents to create their online accounts now and familiarize themselves with the new site, ahead of the launch.

WebTrac is separate from the association’s main website, www.reston.org, where many residents like to pay assessment fees and access disclosure documents. Residents will need to create a separate account to utilize WebTrac.

“Signing up now will enable you to purchase items as soon as they become available, starting in January 2017. In the meantime, you can browse the site to become familiar with how it works,” RA says on its website.

The RA board approved $201,000 at the beginning of this year to upgrade to the WebTrac system.

According to a presentation by Laura Kowalski, RA Deputy Director for Recreation, the upgrades will make online transactions such as sign-ups, swim and tennis pass renewals and purchases more intuitive and user-friendly. Navigating the site will be easier, and search capabilities will be improved.

Overall, Kowalski writes that the platform will be much more “reliable” and “established” than the current MarketPlace on Reston.org, and that several Northern Virginia jurisdictions already use it.

Kowalski also reports that the project is on schedule, and on budget, and that staff members received four weeks of training on the system earlier this year. In addition, some residents who signed up for winter camps were recently invited to participate in focus groups for feedback on the new system, according to Kowalski’s presentation.

Implementation is happening in phases, with the first phase taking place this month, during which residents will be able to create their user accounts and familiarize themselves with the new site.

By December, pool and tennis passes will be available for sale via the site for the first time. Full implementation will follow in January, after the holidays.

Residents may notice a slow phasing-out of links on the current MarketPlace system as processes are slowly transitioned over to WebTrac. However, residents will still be able to pay their assessments online as usual on the main Reston.org website.
