The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the area until 10 p.m. today.
Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and into the evening. Intense rainfall rates could lead to flash flooding.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEADÂ TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTIONÂ SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED
Flash Flood Watch has been expanded southward to include metro Washington DC and additional portions of northwestern Virginia and eastern West Virginia.
