Pet of the Week: Brown Sugar, an affectionate boy who likes to think he’s a lap dog

Meet Brown Sugar, an aptly named, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle at your feet and try to curl up in your lap (though, at 60 pounds, he might not quite fit).

Here’s what his friends at PetConnect Rescue had to say about him.

Meet Brown Sugar! His name says it all… this very sweet and happy 2.5- to 3-year-old adult dog loves to hang out with his people. Sugar is about 60 pounds and has a gorgeous, rich reddish-brown coat with a spot of white on his chest and toes. Brown Sugar is adorable, happy, outgoing and loves to snuggle/get attention from his humans! While he settles down nicely to hang out with the family, he is also curious, energetic, loves to go for walks, play with his toys, and play with his ball and his people outside. He also knows some basic commands. Sugar will do best in an adult home (or possibly with young adults) who will continue to work on leash training. While he loves to meet children, he gets overstimulated and starts jumping/mouthing, which can be too much for them. He is an exceptionally smart dog who is very attentive to his people but needs a confident person to ensure he continues to develop into the well-behaved dog he can be all the time.

Brown Sugar found himself, through no fault of his own, in a rural North Carolina shelter. Poor Sugar did not understand why no one came to get him and he had lost the comforts of a home. PetConnect came to his rescue and has brought him to the Baltimore/DC area to find his new home that will adore him furever.

If you are looking for a companion who is a very sweet, happy dog that will greet you with butt wiggles and gentle “kisses,” Brown Sugar may be the one for you.
