All entry fees and 10% of sales are donated to Cornerstones to support their important work in the community.
The Holiday Gift Shopping Event on Saturday, December 6, turns the Lake Anne facility into a festive marketplace of food and gifts from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This one-day event offers everyone an opportunity to enjoy holiday refreshments while perusing the many tables of original artwork that include ornaments, small and large paintings, notecards, textiles, pottery, sculpture, fused glass and jewelry. The December 6th RCC event coincides with Jingle on Lake Anne, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring a petting zoo, children’s crafts, cookie decorating, holiday arts and crafts market, petting zoo, strolling carolers and Santa’s arrival by barge at noon.
Participating artists donate ten percent of their proceeds from sales during the Holiday Gift Shopping Event and throughout the months of December and January to help Cornerstones continue their important work. This includes operation of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Laurel Learning Center and their Community Services Outreach, which provides job counseling, emergency food, and youth programs. Approximately $10,000 has been raised for Cornerstones, formerly Reston Interfaith, since the annual exhibit was first held in 1999.
“The Gifts from the HeART exhibit brings artists and community members together for a wonderful cause,” said Cheri Danaher, RCC’s Arts Education Director. “Through this event, everyone involved can enjoy fantastic works of art, celebrate the holidays, and also support those in need in our area.”
