Musical Afternoon–Hava Nagilah and more, for “Adults of an Uncertain Age”

Congregation Beth Emeth

12523 Lawyers Road

Herndon, Virginia 20171

At Congregation Beth Emeth, HAZAK is a congenial group for all interested adults of an uncertain age who want to continue to grow their Jewish and World understanding in a friendly and welcoming environment. HAZAK members do not need to be CBE members.

Please join us for a musical and fun-filled afternoon as we mark the end of the 2015-2016 CBE HAZAK year. There will also be extra delicious deserts for you to enjoy.

The main event is the movie: “Hava Nagila” which explores the history and meaning of this iconic song that we all have danced to in celebration of life. It conjures up wistful smiles and memories of generations past. But as audiences will discover in Hava Nagila (The Movie), the song is much more than a tale of Jewish kitsch and bad bar mitzvah fashions. It carries with it an entire constellation of history, values and hopes for the future. In its own believe-it-or-not way, Hava Nagila encapsulates the Jewish journey over the past 150 years. It also reveals the power of one song to express and sustain identity, to transmit lessons across generations and to bridge cultural divides and connect us all on a universal level.

There will also be several short video clips that should hopefully bring laughter and awe. These include an unbelievable wedding surprise, Israeli landscapes and other goodies.
