Join Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE), Balducci’s Food Lover’s Market, Boston Properties, and Bozzuto Management for the opening reception of Susan Hostetler Volatile at Greater Reston Arts Center at Signature.
GRACE is pleased to announce an exhibition by DC-based artist Susan Hostetler. Susan Hostetler’s delicate works of graphite and gouache drawings on mylar as well as her mixed-media clay sculptures are inspired by avian life, flight patterns, and song bird vocalizations. The title of the exhibition references the early usage of volatile: (n.) as a general term referring to birds or other flying creatures and as, (adj.) characterized by quick or unexpected changes. Her creative process captures the fleeting moments of flight and the rhythm of the natural world in surprising, unexpected ways.
Hostetler received her BFA from Western Michigan University and her MAT from Corcoran College of Art and Design. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the DC Metropolitan Area. In 2013 she received the Robert Raushenberg Award for Art Education and her work can be found in several collections such as IBM, General Electric, Federal Reserve Bank, Deutchebank, and the Arts in Embassy Program, DC among others.
Refreshments generously provided by Balducci’s Food Lovers Market will include artisanal cheeses, antipasto platter, corn and edamame quesadillas, tomato and mozzarella crostini, and French pastries. Tours of Signature, Reston Town Center’s newest luxury apartment building, will be offered throughout the evening.
Greater Reston Arts Center at Signature is always free and open to the public.
