Acrylic Paintings on Yupo Paper by Rudy Guernica • Exhibit Dates: October 16 – November 30
Born in Santiago, Cuba and raised in Westminister, Maryland, Rudy Guernica worked as a graphic artists and art director in New York City in the 1980’s where he pioneered the use of computer graphics applications for publications and business presentations. As a Producer and General Manager for radio stations, including Univision, he was responsible for launching the first Spanish language newscast in Washington DC. He now dedicates his time to art and painting. “I seek inspiration from the ordinary and often use personal photographs from local hikes as preliminary sketches for my paintings. My art is about seeing nature through its individual shapes and seeking a transparency process. I follow traditions of impressionism and modernism that validate nature as source and the personal tough of the aritst’s hand.” Rudy has called Reston home since 1989 and is a member of the League of Reston Artists (LRA).
