Crime Roundup: Investigation on Target Shoplifting, Home Burglary Underway

Police continue to investigate a shoplifting incident at Target earlier this month that resulted in a multi-car police pursuit. Officers responded to Target on Sept. 17 at around 8 p.m. after an employee noticed a man was stealing merchandise. Police cars pursued the car, but the man was not found.

In a separate incident, police are investigating a home burglary on the 2200 block of Castle Rock Square. Sometime between Sept. 19 and Sept. 20, someone broke into the apartment and took electronic equipment, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

The Herndon Police Department also continues to search for a man who they believe robbed M&T Bank in Herndon on Sept. 14. Police issued photos from a security camera but have not found the suspect yet.

On Sept. 16 just before 7 a.m., Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded found a disabled car parked in the middle of the road on Waxpool Road in Ashburn. The driver and passenger were found attempting to get into another vehicle.

Maria Alevromagiros, 34, of Herndon, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, possession of narcotics and driving on a suspended driver’s license, according to LCSO.

Crime Roundup: Police Catch ‘Suspicious’ Herndon Man In Woods

A 21-year-old Herndon resident was caught yelling racial slurs in front of a home on the 1500 block of Poplar Grove Drive Friday night.

Carrick Shannon was charged with destruction of property, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice.

Local police responded to a report that a suspicious man was attempting to enter a home in the area around 9:57 p.m. on Friday.

When officers arrived, they saw Shannon standing outside the home. He was arrested after a foot pursuit in woods nearby the home.

Police said they also found security footage of Shannon yelling racial slurs in the security camera and damaging the camera.

In a separate incident, a burglary was reported at House of Mandarin (2303 Soapstone Drive) around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday. Staff of a neighboring business heard glass breaking next door.

A burglary was also reported at a local Exxon (12080 Glade Drive) on Thursday around 2:20 a.m.. Police believe someone broke into the business and stole cash.

Crime Roundup: Few Reports of Incidents

The Fairfax County Police Department reported that jewelry and electronics were stolen from a home on the 11900 block of Winstead Lane on Friday at around 8:30 a.m.

An investigation on a spree of garage door opener burglaries also continues in the area. Although a suspect has been arrested in connection with Loudoun County robberies, it is unclear if the cases are linked to four robberies in Fairfax County, law enforcement officials said.

In another incident, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged a 32-year-old man with public intoxication on Nov. 18.

Jonathan Erazo, a Reston resident, was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.

Herndon’s police department reported no major crimes in its weekly press report.
