Documentary Filmmaking Summer Studio

RCC Lake Anne

1609-A Washington Plaza North

Reston, Virginia 20190

Documentary Filmmaking: Summer Studio for Teens: Bring your stories to the screen. During this summer studio, campers will learn how to use an iPad to film and edit their own short films and the storytelling techniques to express their unique points of view through this visual medium. Each camper will make a short film that will be screened on August 24 in Reston as part of the Reston: Through the Next Gen Lens program.

Campers will have a hands-on learning experience in the basics of filming, editing and story development, taught by the award-winning filmmaker Rebekah Wingert-Jabi. Her recent work includes the Reston documentary Another Way of Living: The Story of Reston, VA. The camp will focus on the themes from Reston’s founding values.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Information
Parents must check in campers at Reston Community Center Lake Anne each day at 9:00 a.m. and pick up campers by 5:00 p.m.

NOTE: Due to the cumulative approach to the program, attending all weeks of the program is required, so please plan vacations and appointments accordingly.
