Reston Planning and Zoning Committee to Review Middle School Renovation Project, RTC West Expansion

At its meeting tonight, the Reston Planning and Zoning Committee will hear presentations on two major projects.

JBG is advancing major additions for Reston Town Center West, formerly known as Reston Executive Center. The developer plans to keep existing office buildings on the property while adding 1.3 million square feet of additional development, including five buildings with two family-family residential buildings, three office buildings and ground floor retail throughout the property. A public hearing date has not yet been scheduled for the project.

New Lake Anne House is also proposing to construct a new multi-family residential building at Lake Anne Fellowship House (11405 North Shore Drive) amid concerns the current facilities are inefficient and out-of-date. The new building would include 240 affordable units that will replace currently outdated buildings. The remainder of the site will include market rate single-family attached units. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved the plan.

One project is scheduled for a vote. In order to address overcrowding, the Fairfax County School Board is seeking to add three buildings and other renovations to Langston Hughes Middle School, which is located on 11401 Ridge Heights Road. A public hearing is set for Jan. 10.

Tonight’s Reston P&Z Committee meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the North County Government Center.
