McFarland, USA Plays at CenterStage on Jan. 8

Reston Community Center Hunters Woods CenterStage is playing McFarland, USA, a film from 2005 that follow novice runners from McFarland, on Jan. 8 at 10 a.m.

The movie follows runners from an economically challenged town that rests in California’s Central Valley. The runners attempt to build a cross-country team under the direction of their coach, who is played by Kevin Costner, a newcomer to the predominantly Latino high school.

The film, which is based on a true story from the late 1980s, includes a free continental breakfast beginning at 9:30 a.m.
