CVS at Reston Town Center

CVS opened its newest Reston location on Sunday, finally bringing a convenience and drugstore inside the Reston Town Center.

The new store is located at the corner of Town Square and St. Francis Streets, in the ground-floor space of The Avant residential building.

While Reston Town Center has seen much expansion in recent years, some of the residents who live at town center lamented lack of a store for basics there. They could get a new outfit or eat at any number of good restaurants, they said, but were without a place to quickly pick up pain reliever or paper towels without getting in a car or walking several blocks to Harris Teeter.

The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

This CVS has made living or working in TC even better. Great addition!

Thanks CVS. You are the best thing that has happened to Reston Town Center in the last 15 years I’ve here!

Believing that driving everywhere is a good or desireable thing sounds like the “suburbanite” problem…. Welcome to the CVS within easy walking distance (when immediate prescriptions are useful) for those of us in RTC who are public transportation and bike commuters.

Get real. The number of people who do not have cars in Reston is miniscule, and there is no reason to cater to them.

My guess is the CVS at Reston Town Center will turn a good profit and justify the market-based decision to open a branch here. Many elderly people no longer drive for safety reasons and the pharmacy (etc) will benefit them. Many Millennials have not found work allowing them to purchase vehicles and will benefit from the new CVS location. The CVS is near the bus station that takes commuters to the Silver Line and near the W&OD bike path that bike riders use. There are large office buildings nearby and folks — many of whom have cars — can strike the stop to the pharmacy off their “to do list” during lunch hour so they can shorten their commutes home. By all means enjoy your vehicle and the gas mileage you accumulate by driving near and far. Certainly there are other developments in RTC that “cater” to your needs. You are but one person.
