Fairfax County Police Fairfax County Police are investigating the death of a Reston resident who was found dead in a grassy area next to a Reston Town Center parking garage about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Fairfax County Police spokesman Lucy Caldwell said the victim has been identified as a 55-year-old Reston resident, but police will not be releasing her name.

The victim was found near the garage on Explorer Street. Her death may have been a suicide by jumping off the garage.

Police believe there was no foul play involved.  The county medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death, Caldwell said.

    Any updates on this?

No. there won’t likely be. When it is a suicide, police almost never release name or anything else out of respect for the family. We usually don’t report on suicides, either, unless they are in a really public place like this one.

There is a group American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that has presented to our Faith Community. They do a lot to support survivor families and have a local Chantilly contact. http://www.afsp.org .

I knew her as well. I only wish I had been able to get through to her but she never opened up. I prayed for her soul and to have peace because I’ve been left deeply unsettled by the events.
