Virginia needs to get out of the liquor business. Let happy hours be that — happy, not secret. Also, close the dumpy ABC stores and let the nearby shops (and groceries that already sell beer and wine) sell spirits at market or sale prices. It works perfectly well on the CA / left coast, so why not here?

Absolutely close ABC stores. Why pay rent and salaries when you can just tax the heck out of store sales?

    • Greg

Costs go on and include: employee benefits, social security, pensions, unemployment, inventory, accounting, shipping, lost sales, limited inventory, empty shelves in oversized stores, fixtures and renovations, store and equipment maintenance, IT and POS equipment and software, utilities, networks — in the millions of dollars no doubt, and all redundant of what the commercial stores pay with no benefit to VA or the taxpayers.

Crystal clear to most of us, yet the defenders of the ABC stores just won’t let go of one more piece government and a badly run one at that.
