Illegal? Lots of them in Herndon

    • mastema

Lots of them all over northern Virginia.
The area is a rat hole, I’ve lived here 27 years.

      • Mike M

Don’t look now, but even Stephen City, Virginia way out in the Shenandoah Valley has a significant “community” as evidenced by churches with signage completely en Espanol and de facto segregation of their very nice and new recreational facility. The “challenge” is much bigger than most people care to appreciate. There has been an invasion.

        • Guest

I wish someone would construct a mosque out there so your head would explode.

          • Mike M

It wouldn’t be my head. But it might lead to real explosions elsewhere.

        • mastema

I’m glad I’m moving across the country in a month.

  • JJ

    Probably gang related of course.

  • Chuck Morningwood

Rest in peace, Sr. Leiva. My condolences to your family, your friends and your acquaintances. I hope they catch the dirty rat b*st*rds that did this to you.

    • AFash

Thank you. I really hope they catch the person’s who did this to my nephew.

      • Amy Neal Long

        My condolences.

  • Very Proud Immigrant

Wow, I didn’t know they ID the man’s resident status before identified the official cause of death…And if you’ve lived in the same area for 27 years and you consider it a rathole, you might be part of the problem.

    • Amy Neal Long

      HaHaHa….well said.

    • Mike M

Should we just invite in 50% of the Mexican population? What kind of “rat hole” we we have if we did that? Should we just look the other way when we see gang violence, and forced prostitution?

      • Camila

It is frustrating see comments from someone who hides behind a computer to talk sh.. about other humans

        • Mike M

Camila, do you disgaree with what I said?
Are you “hiding behind your computer?”
Do you have an intelligent answer to the question I posed?

        • Mike M

Camila. Are you hiding behind your computer?

Don’t fool yourself, Yyt. Those jobs would get done, and by Americans no less. We just won’t do them for the mere pittance that the “Illegals” will. Basically, American society exploits the cheap labor of illegal immigration (at the expense of America’s “marginal workers”), and the Illegal immigrants exploits America’s lack of will to protect her sovereignty. It’s a symbiotic arrangement.

    • Mike M

Since “America” doesn’t measure up to your standards, shall I help you pack? Since these workers are being so desperately “exploited,” I guess I should help them pack too so they can return to the “promised lands” from whence they came?

Letting South Park speak for you? Great. And did you really respond to my point?

I feel bad for this young mans parents, whether he is illegal, bilingual, heterosexual or one of the Xmen. Death is bad, period. Lived in Reston the majority of life and briefly lived in Herndon. Both are wonderful places to live. The Hispanic rise is what it is. My only complaint is, if you are going to be here, have a purpose. Be a good member of society. Undouche. Did it ever occur that his death could have been accidental? Car crash/body dump? Fight gone wrong? Fell from a tree hiding from the police? It sucks when things like this happen either way. Reminds me that this isn’t my Reston/Herndon of the past, when my parents would like me play in the woods as a kid, without fear. Now, I have to worry about my kid being just 50 feet from my house. my 2 cents. Take care now, bye bye then.

Novena in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe
First Day. Rose Dearest Lady of Guadalupe, fruitful Mother of holiness, teach me your ways of gentleness and strength. Hear my humble prayer offered with heartfelt confidence to beg this favor……
Second Day. RoseO Mary, conceived without sin, I come to your throne of grace to share the fervent devotion of your faithful Mexican children who call to you under the glorious Aztec title of Guadalupe. Obtain for me a lively faith to do your Son’s holy will always: May His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Third Day. RoseO Mary, whose Immaculate Heart was pierced by seven swords of grief, help me to walk valiantly amid the sharp thorns strewn across my pathway. Obtain for me the strength to be a true imitator of you. This I ask you, my dear Mother.
Fourth Day. RoseDearest Mother of Guadalupe, I beg you for a fortified will to imitate your divine Son’s charity, to always seek the good of others in need. Grant me this, I humbly ask of you.
Fifth Day. RoseO most holy Mother, I beg you to obtain for me pardon of all my sins, abundant graces to serve your Son more faithfully from now on, and lastly, the grace to praise Him with you forever in heaven.
Sixth Day. RoseMary, Mother of vocations, multiply priestly vocations and fill the earth with religious houses which will be light and warmth for the world, safety in stormy nights. Beg your Son to send us many priests and religious. This we ask of you, O Mother.
Seventh Day. RoseO Lady of Guadalupe, we beg you that parents live a holy life and educate their children in a Christian manner; that children obey and follow the directions of their parents; that all members of the family pray and worship together. This we ask of you, O Mother.
Eighth Day. RoseWith my heart full of the most sincere veneration, I prostrate myself before you, O Mother, to ask you to obtain for me the grace to fulfill the duties of my state in life with faithfulness and constancy.
Ninth Day. RoseO God, You have been pleased to bestow upon us unceasing favors by having placed us under the special protection of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. Grant us, your humble servants, who rejoice in honoring her today upon earth, the happiness of seeing her face to face in heaven.
    Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

As if the news weren’t unsettling enough, the religious ostrich response is a big part of the problem.

I like how people are considering his death gang related bc of his name smh! Or he MUST be illegal bc of his name. This article gave no personal information about him but some people are jumping to ignorant conclusions. The fact is that someone died…show some respect !!

    • AFash

Thank you..some people are just so quick to judge someone, no where in this article does it say it was gang related or if was an illegal. So some people should just keep their thoughts to themselves.

      • Mike M

People consider it gang-related because the “death” was a murder. Let’s not be Pollyannish and recognize the stench. Breath deep!

        • maxweiner

This just in! Every suspicious death is gang related.

  • Kristen

Not all people with a latin sounding name are illegal. Not all of those who are here illegally are criminals and gang members. A person died, and regardless of whether he was legal or illegal, gang member or not, a little respect and human decency is warranted. Condolences to the family, hope they catch the person or people who did this.

    • Mike M

Kristen. A person didn’t just die. A person seems to have been murdered. Comprende la diferencia? Es muy importante.

  • Bill

I can’t believe I am posting on here but to those who say shameful things about a situation like this should be ashamed of yourself. And for you to judge Herndon in the way you are is totally ridiculous. Very sad indeed…

  • RestonRed

It is sad that this man lost his life and seemingly in a brutal manner (upper body trauma was cited in another article). I think his age and name lend themselves to people making conclusions about his legal status and gang connections based on other recent crime reports (like the sex trafficking ring busted in South Reston two weeks ago). While I don’t know if those men were illegally in the country, I would venture to bet if they are not illegal, their parents were illegal. Reason? The number of legal avenues/visas from Central and South American countries do not match up with the millions of immigrants coming from those countries. It’s not racist to make those connections.
We in Reston and Fairfax County have seen the illegal alien population rise significantly in the past two decades. This creates many issues in our communities, including crime, language barriers, poverty issues, housing, schools, etc. We must be able to talk about them without racism always being thrown up as a reason to stop the discourse.
Specifically, I just read that Fairfax County wants to try to pass a meals tax again due to shortfalls in the budget. Providing more schools, welfare, housing, etc for all the illegal minors who came in last year has to be connected to that and the general increase in population that does not pay into taxes more than they take out in services. We need to have this discussion.

    • Mike M

      Wow!
      Dude.
      Where did you come from.
Of course you must be burned at the stake for speaking such heresy.
      But, hey, well said.
Next thing you know you might state that gratuitous black-on-white crime is a bigger problem than the other way around. But don’t go there. It too be heresy!
