Duck Donuts

Fans of Duck Donuts can now get their favorite treats in Northern Virginia.

Duck Donuts at 300A Elden St. in Herndon opened at 6 a.m. Monday.

The popular shop based out of Duck, N.C., already had lines out the door over the weekend, when it held a “soft opening” to get employees ready for crowds.

Duck Donuts specializes in made-to-order doughnuts, so you can order all kind of unique combos (chocolate and bacon, anyone? How about lemon and rainbow sprinkles?)

The Herndon opening is part of a franchise expansion. A Fairfax store will open this summer, and more locations are planned for New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia Beach and Charlottesville.

The Herndon store will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

great…more bars and doughnut shops opening, good thing we have great health care in this country….o wait …

I was told people can be “healthy at every size” and it shouldn’t matter if someone rolls in their on their scooty-puff jr weighing 250 lbs with a BMI in the upper 30s. It’s fine

Hey, stop talking about me like that. I’m in the room, you know.

(Seriously, I don’t use the scooter, but my BMI is in the mid-30’s. I can run several miles and regularly bike in the 10’s of miles. BMI is a very crude measure of health, and not always that accurate.)

        • WhoIsJohnGalt

BMI is a measurement of height & weight. Mid-30s puts you past overweight and teetering on morbidly obese. The only outliers are for people that are under 5 ft’ and people that are over 6 ‘6″ Additionally BMI could be a bit off if you were a professional body builder. Nevertheless I would wager dollars to doughnuts that you’re not falling under any of those categories. Though I shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

At that weight you’re at great risk for coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 Diabetes and sleep Apnea. Hopefully I’m mistaken and you’re not the type that breaks into a sweat going up a single flight of stairs

BMI is dumb. Arnold Schwarzengger was considered obese by BMI measurements when he won Olympia.

My esteemed cousin Baron Harkonnen recommends them highly – “and food snobs be damned!”

What I really want to know, though, is how do they compare in price to Dunkin?

    • PoliticsGirl

They’re pretty similar. We got a half dozen for about $6. Not bad for watching it from start to finish.

The Charlottesville store has opened already and they are awesome! Their lattes and cappuccinos are good, too.
