This is in the same shopping area as the former Bank Robbery in the Safeway correct? It would appear that historical data shows a certain social-economic demographic reigns supreme in this area.

There is also a large number of low-income minority housing in this area, correct?

    • Ming the Merciless

There you go again, causing feelbad with your hatefacts.

      • Henry Rearden

I could then use further data and census reports to show that this area is predominantly Hispanic. Or just go off of anecdotal evidence of driving past the area and seeing with my own eyes.

        • Virginia Harlow

          Because it is.

    • Visionary

      It’s true.

    • Charles Melissa Owusu

What does being low income have to do with it people with money rob people too!

      • CE

Seriously? I have a car but I think I’m going to hitchhike from now on.
My 5 year old has better logic than you.

      • equation

        Serious? They are exactly related!

      • Reason8

Ignore these ignorant sots (intoxicated by their deep rooted biases and phobias). Your point is well taken. Sure, scarcity of resources can be a factor in motivating one to criminal acts. So, too, is greed…and we see a lot more of that among “high income” folks. (Anyone remember Enron? If not, how does VW resonate?)

I have not (yet) been robbed, but I have been victimized countless times by unethical and illegal actions by people who undoubtedly live in the “better” parts of their towns.

Many of our most accomplished figures grew up in “low income neighborhoods”. But that’s an inconvenient fact for several posters here. Much better to paint with a broad brush so as to support their own brand of bile.

        • Charles Melissa Owusu

Well said! Beside I am not one to worry about folks such as that just motivates me to be a much better person 🙂

        • Virginia Harlow

While in that I’d remind that Dr Carsin did. Also, I’m certain that many Hispanics (hate that word) Latinos are very nice and good neighbors too. But just like everyone else there are a few rotten apples that ruin things for everyone else.

    • Richard

Right, Henry. So, is it your plan to prevent low income people from living in Reston, minorities or both?

      • CE

Now that the Metro comes out here there’s really no need to demand low income in every new development but that will never happen.

      • Henry Rearden

Gentrification is my plan of action. I don’t want it in my neighborhood or backyard

  • meh

They needed the money for the upcoming latino festival on Saturday, the food isn’t free.

  • John Q Public

two Hispanics huh….I guess Don Trump has a point…FCPD will catch these two cowards

    • meh

It would be nice if we had a wall so when we deport the cowards they just don’t come back.

      • Henry Rearden

If a fence is good enough for the white House it’s good enough for America.

        • meh

I am good with a fence as long as its a “green” electric fence. Trump can buy solar panels from Al Gore to provide the power it needs, they will get plenty of juice soaking up that desert heat.

      • Virginia Harlow

What are the chances they’d get deported? Thousands of criminals have been set free rather than deported!

  • shocked

I am shocked. A robbery in a neighborhood surrounded by low-income housing? I would expect this type of thing in Great Falls or something, but not Hunters Woods. A

    • Charles Melissa Owusu

What does being low income have to do with anything? Stereotyping ?

      • CE

You again. Seriously? Yeah it’s a someone with plenty of money risking getting caught robbing someone for the unknown amount of money in this guys wallet. Try thinking with your brain.

        • Charles Melissa Owusu

I have a brain and at least i dont have to hide my face I choose not to discriminate and do any kind of profiling unlike people such as you have a wonderful day!

      • Henry Rearden

Usually people in low income housing have frontal lobes that haven’t uflly developd

  • Chuck Morningwood

Probably just a delayed affect of the Lunar Eclipse. This should stop soon.

    • Ming the Merciless

Apparently “la chancla” was applied with insufficient frequency and intensity.

  • Mike M

Son legales o no? Entonces, son ladrones, claro.

  • Henry Rearden

I can’t imagine this type of thing bodes well for property values in the surrounding area.

  • Chuck Morningwood

I’m betting they needed the money so that they could buy a fartcan exhaust and furry dice for their ’93 Honda Civic.

    • meh

or maybe they will purchase some raffle tickets at the festival on Saturday.

      • Henry Rearden

        There’s a festival on Saturday?

  • Cluster Tycoon

I recently ran out of gas in that area and when I walked back to my car with a full cherry can someone stopped and picked me up. Its maybe not the richest neighborhood but people are nice.

  • taffytoo

    i wonder if they showed a weapon…

  • LiliKang

What frustrates me the most about this shopping center is that I have to park and walk through it to get to the RCC. I want to sign my kid up for Lego Class there but actually am worried about the safety of it because some of it would be after the time change and dark. So I’d be walking through it with my baby and other kid and diaper bag with wallet. Do I take the chance, I’d be an easy target? I know the police are stretched thin but I’m forced to pay a special tax for a building and programs I have to worry about my safety to get to?
