United Christian Parich/Courtesy UCPUnited Christian Parish in Reston is inviting people of all faiths to come to the church Wednesday night for a celebration of community and giving thanks.

The church’s annual Thanksgiving Eve gathering “allows the local community to  come together in celebration of the diversity of our community,” says UCP’s website. “We share the unity of our humanity in the simple, yet universal message of ‘giving thanks to God’ for the gift of each other and lift up the call anew to care for our neighbors and neighborhood.”

The service is Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the UCP Sanctuary, 11508 North Shore Dr.

Participants will include:

• All-Dulles Area Muslim Society
• Shoreshim Community
• St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church
• Unitarian Universalist Church, Reston
• Cornerstones
• Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins
• Del. Ken Plum

A social time for connecting and re-connecting follows the service.

  • Non-Believer

Does their message mean Atheists are not welcome? We support diversity, just not “that” diversity?

ken plum will be there, if you feel left out during the readings just print out ken’s weekly editorials from here and then slap a cover on it that reads “The Book of Ken”

I doubt ISIS would be welcome either.

I for one celebrate Pastafarianism (The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster). I hope there is a place for me.

There is but one God and that God is the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Death to the infidel!

      Hmmn. That works pretty well.

          We march!

As an advocate of from the Church of South Beach, and a member of its leading body, the Diet of Low Carbs, your beliefs are apostacy and you are all Heretics.

Farina and Semolina are False Gawds and Barilla, San Giorgia and Mueller are all False Prophets.

There is no god–of any denomination– to rescue us from ourselves, We are on our own. There are only fairly tales, fables and superstitions, sometimes outright lies, packaged and sold to us down through history as the “Truth” or the “Way to Salvation” from the time we are young. At least with the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster one gets tomato sauce and meatballs.

  • Yawn

Come join the Leftists who pretend to be religious as they parade around the various Leftist secular causes — diversity, the homeless, universal health care, immigration, blah blah blah — that are manifestly far more important to them than anything in the spiritual realm. Really, Democrats, why do you bother sitting in “Church” for any of that? You can hear the same drivel from Ken P and the WaPo from the comfort of your own home.
