There were people painting, repairing, singing, speaking and discussing at Reston Community Center’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day events in Reston over the holiday weekend.

Highlights included a large group of volunteers helping at Southgate Community Center Saturday; concerts by the Reston Community Orchestra and various groups at the annual “Voices of Inspiration” concert; and a keynote speech and performance on the progress of race in America by actor and playwright Anna Deveare Smith.

Do you have more information on the keynote by Anna Deavere Smith: From Rodney King to Michael Brown

I was curious if they discussed Reginald Denny? You remember Reginald Denny, right? He was the poor white guy beat to an inch of his life during Rodney King riots. Or did they talk about Mr Browns dad imploring the crowd to “burn this [email protected]#@!#@ down”?
