Two Reston Triathletes Among Top Finishers in National Championships

Reston triathletes Dana Scheurer and Joe O’Gorman had strong finishes in the 2016 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Omaha over the weekend.

Dana Scheurer/Credit: Laura KowalskiScheurer, 66, finished fourth in the 65-69 women’s group. O’Gorman, 68, finished 24th among the 65-69 year old men. Both triathletes are perennial contenders in the Reston Triathlon.

The course was an Olympic-length one — a 1,500 meter swim, a 40K bike ride and a 10K run. Scheurer’s time was 3:06:52. O’Gorman’s time was 2:55:31.

Six other area athletes also competed in Omaha: James Lutz, 51; Frederick Mackem, 53; Lisa Mackem, 46; Edward Ball, 44; Aaryn Schied, 28; and Lyle Kampf, 33.

    Congratulations Dana and Joe!!! Senior athletes are alive and well. I hope that you will also enter the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics that are being held from September 10-21, 2016 at various locations around Northern Virginia.
