Theatre For Kids at Next Stop — Herndon’s Next Stop Theatre is presenting “Balloonacy,” by Barry Kornhauster, a live theatre show  for ages 1-5. The play explores the power of friendship — with a little imagination and acceptance, one lonely person discovers companionship with the help of a red balloon. Leaf Cleanup Plea — Fairfax County makes the case for using paper bags rather than plastic for fall cleanup this year. [Fairfax County]

Kudos, National Merit Semifinalists — Students from Herndon and South Lakes High Schools are among the more than 200 Fairfax County Public Schools students who are National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. Merit Scholarship winners will be announced in spring 2017. [FCPS]

    I remember when paper bags were the scourge of the earth. Spotted Owls people!!!!
    Now it’s the green choice! Being environmentally conscious is so hard to follow.

    I have a better idea. Many towns/counties have leaf removal programs. Residents deposit leaves at the curb and trucks comes by and suck them up for deposit as organic/compostable material instead of mixed with trash. FFX County currently spends $4B a year. I bet we can find the money if we try real hard!

    Let’s suck up some leaves because No Bags is Better than Paper bags!!
