UPDATE: FCPD Investigates Crash Involving Pedestrian in Reston

by Fatimah Waseem December 7, 2017 at 11:30 am 6 Comments

A preliminary investigation by the Fairfax County Police Department found that a pedestrian hit by a car on Tuesday night crossed the street against the walk signal.

The pedestrian was hit by a car at the intersection of Reston Parkway and South Lakes Drive shortly before 7 p.m.

The pedestrian, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. In a statement released today, a spokesperson for the police department said the pedestrian is expected to survive.

Police shut down northbound Reston Parkway as officers conducted an investigation.

Other places feature bridges but not FFX county because it’s the poorest county in the nation, thanks to the mental giants that run it.

Not poor in revenue. This is going to be a growing problem in Reston. We will ask to change the name in 2020 to Pedstrike.

Psst! This is yesterday’s news and was already reported with about the same level of non-detail as today.

I was a witness to this accident. The pedestrian was in the dead center of the intersection. He was wandering like he was stoned – completely oblivious to all the cars zooming by. He was dressed in dark pants and a dark jacket in the rain.

This was fully the pedestrian’s fault. It was horrific to witness. The poor driver that hit him had no chance to avoid him. There was nothing the state could have done to prevent this – the guy was no where near a crosswalk.

I am relieved that he had no life threatening injuries – the way he was hit, I would have never guessed.

“There was nothing the state could have done to prevent this…”

      Ever heard of streetlights?

At some point people need to stay out of the center of the intersection.

The drive who struck the person could not see him because of an SUV in her line of sight. The same thing would have happened in broad daylight.
