Last Chance: Reston Farmers Market Ends Tomorrow

by Fatimah Waseem December 8, 2017 at 2:45 pm 11 Comments

As the year winds down, tomorrow is the last day to enjoy the Reston Farmers Market for the year. The market, which is located on 1609 Washington Plaza, ends on Saturday at noon and will resume next year.

The market began its season in April will run from 8 a.m. to noon. Vendors create an eclectic gathering that offers locally grown produce as well as exotic imports from around the world. A complete list of vendors is available on the market’s site.

Where to begin, began, begun with this, three-tensed covfefe?

Maybe its me, but the market always seems overpriced.

I love taking the kids to the strawberry patches or apple farm in the mountains for fresh fruit and to make pies.

Actually there are two SEPARATE markets at
    Lake Anne on Saturdays.
One is the Reston Farmers Market featuring only locally grown and produced foods which is located on the parking lot and will end its 20th season this Saturday at 12 noon. THE Reston Farmers Market is sponsored by the Fairfax County Park Authority. The RFM will open its 2018 season same place on the last Saturday in April 2018. See http://www.restonfarmersmarket.com

The other market is the Lake Anne Crafts Market, located on the brick Plaza and managed by the Lake Anne Condo Association. They have a wide assortment of handicrafts from many places in the U.S. and overseas as well. The Crafts Market also has some prepared foods and non-profit associations stands. Contact the Crafts Market management for hours and schedule for its season.

How about fixing the stairs that leads from the parking lot to North Shore Drive? One can easily trip and get hurt, especially the older people from the Fellowship House.

PS Who is responsible for keeping them in good and safe condition?

      Hudgins

Ken Plum is, but he’s too busy screaming at Civil War statues. So, good luck.

A big part of what’s hindering any redevelopment at Lake Anne is the complex ownership arrangement. Some think this is Simon’s legacy, his intent, or both, and was so arranged as to make redevelopment nearly impossible. Some of the older condos require 100% affirmative votes to change anything.

I think the steps you mention is owned / maintained by the following entity:

      Tax map 0172 07 0006B3
Owner Name 1601 WASHINGTON PLAZA LLC,
Mailing Address 358 GALLOP WOOD PL GREAT FALLS VA 22066

But since the property is in Reston, you can file a covenants complaint with RA and they will (maybe if they decide they want to) look into it.

      The form is here:
