The big boom — Big change is taking place in formerly quiet places. Reston is on the list of places where dramatic transformations — and price hikes — are coming. [Washingtonian]

A full plate — Reston Association’s Design Review Board will consider several major projects during today’s 7 p.m. meeting including an art spillway project by local students and upgrades to South Lakes Village Center. [RA]

Post-election analysis — RA’s elections committee is also set to meet this evening to discuss improvements to the elections process. [RA]

Balducci’s is coming soon — The food lover’s market is expected to open sometime in May in Reston Town Center. [Balducci’s]

My post-election analysis: Now that Sridhar Ganesan is Vice President of the RA Board of Directors, will he continue to sign everything and anything that Irwin Flashman writes for him? Why can’t Mr. Ganesan produce his own work? It is unfortunate that most voters didn’t realize that a vote for Ganesan was just a vote for Flashman.

      Well,

Many of us here have been saying that, ever since he came onto the board as Treasurer. Carr, Hebert, Bowman – do the same.

Don’t leave out Petrine, Abbot, and Maynard as a part of the PAC.

      It’s sad.

For the sake of argument, lets presume your unsupported accusation is true. So what?

      Lets take four different scenarios…

Suppose Ganesan submits or votes on a quality proposal that Flashman originally wrote => Reston benefits.

Suppose Ganesan submits or votes on a quality proposal that Flashman didn’t originally write => Reston benefits.

Suppose Ganesan submits or votes on a bad proposal that Flashman originally wrote => Reston loses

Suppose Ganesan submits or votes on a bad proposal that Flashman didn’t originally write => Reston loses

Are you seeing the pattern here? The important variable in Reston’s success is whether Ganesan has submitted or voted on a quality proposal. Whether Flashman wrote or agreed with the proposal has no bearing.

My accusation is only unsupported if you are uninformed. It is well known that Flashman provides written material and acts as a proxy for those on his slate. If you don’t believe me, read Ganesan’s written arguments and compare them to Flashman’s oral arguments. The vocabulary, tone, and style is uncanny.

Regardless, if Ganesan’s tenure as Treasurer is any indication, Ganesan’s blind acceptance of Flashman’s position will continue to result in “Reston losing”, as you say.

I feel that RA should be open and transparent to its members. Having a proxy working on the BoD for a man in the shadows is counter to that. Especially when that shadow has several board member’s strings. It turns the board into a dictoratorship of one voice as opposed to a group working toward the good of the whole community. If Mr. Flashman thinks his ideas are so great, he is welcome to run for the Board.

“My accusation is only unsupported if you are uninformed”

This statement is derp in two ways. a) You don’t appear to understand the definition of unsupported. b) The logic of “I am right because you are uninformed” will not win a debate class nor will it convince/persuade RestonNow readers who want to learn more.

I suppose its possible that Flashman is some puppet controlling Bond villain, coordinating his minions on the BoD to his nefarious agenda.

Its also possible that Ganesan, Flashman, and other board members share many common values.

I maintain the best way to critique a BoD member is criticize their votes and comments as BoD members, rather than presume or concoct some underhanded conspiracy. If there is indeed an underhanded conspiracy, it will manifest itself through bad votes, actions, and comments.

“…If there is indeed an underhanded conspiracy, it will manifest itself through bad votes, actions, and comments…”

            Already is.

While there is your critique – the list of things that Ganesan has done or not done as BoD of the Reston Association that you dislike.

I hope that in the next RA election I receive the proper number of ballots. In the most recent election, I received 10 mailed ballots (in separate envelopes with all that wasted paper and postage). All those hundreds of thousands (or millions) of dollars RA spent on IT, and consultants, and third-party providers, and lawyers…
