Reston Holiday Parade Ranks Eighth in USA Today Contest

The votes are in. The annual Reston Holiday Parade nabbed eighth-place nationwide in a USA Today holiday parade contest, according to results released yesterday (Tuesday).

Reston’s slot put it ahead of the Christmas Ships Parade in Portland, Oregon and behind Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.

Last year, the parade in Reston ranked fifth place nationwide, one slot higher than its ranking in 2017. The previous year, the parade came in fourth overall.

Top honors went to America’s Thanksgiving Parade, which has been hosted by Detroit since 1924.

The complete ranking is as follows:

  1. America’s Thanksgiving Parade – Detroit
  2. Tournament of Roses Parade – Pasadena, Calif.
  3. Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade – Fort Lauderdale
  4. Ford Holiday River Parade – San Antonio
  5. Fort Myers Beach Christmas Boat Parade – Fort Myers, Fla.
