Broadway Night Returns to South Lakes HS This Weekend

South Lakes High School

Students from South Lakes High School pyramid schools will present the ninth annual Broadway Night Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. in the SLHS Little Theatre.

This year’s show is titled “#Generations X, Y, Z.” It will feature music from Broadway musicals from 1962 to today, including  Matilda, 13 the Musical, Edges, Cinderella, Anything Goes, Promises,Promises, Rock of Ages and more.

“Many of the more recent Broadway shows are featuring music and artists from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, introducing our current generation to this music,’’ says Rita Gigliotti, SLHS Choir Director. “While new to them, it is reminiscent for their parents and grandparents. To add to this twist, there will be a hashtag associated with each song in the review to incorporate today’s social media hype for our ‘Z’ generation.’’

More than 120 students will be participating in the show, produced by the South Lakes Chorus program. SLHS choral students assume leadership roles in running every aspect of the show: performing, directing, production, technical theatre, publicity, costuming and choreography.

Tickets: $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at www.southlakeschorus.org.

Herndon High will also present “Broadway Magic,” its revue of Broadway songs, on Saturday and Monday at 7:30 p.m. at HHS. Tickets are $10 ($5 for students and seniors).
