Reston triathletes Dana Scheurer and Joe O’Gorman had strong finishes in the 2016 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Omaha over the weekend.
Scheurer, 66, finished fourth in the 65-69 women’s group. O’Gorman, 68, finished 24th among the 65-69 year old men. Both triathletes are perennial contenders in the Reston Triathlon.
The course was an Olympic-length one — a 1,500 meter swim, a 40K bike ride and a 10K run. Scheurer’s time was 3:06:52. O’Gorman’s time was 2:55:31.
Six other area athletes also competed in Omaha: James Lutz, 51; Frederick Mackem, 53; Lisa Mackem, 46; Edward Ball, 44; Aaryn Schied, 28; and Lyle Kampf, 33.
