Holiday Happenings: First Night Vienna New Year’s Eve Celebration

First Night ViennaThe whole family can ring in the New Year Tuesday night at the First Night Vienna celebration.

This is the first time a First Night — an arts-focused, alcohol-free New Year’s Even Party — has been held in Vienna, organizers said. The Vienna Business Association is partnering with the Town of Vienna for the celebration.

First Night Vienna will be held in the area around Historic Church Street and will feature four entertainment venues, food, musicians, vocalists, and activities for kids. Church Street will be closed between Mill and Center streets for the evening’s festivities, which run from 7 p.m. to midnight.

There will be a ceremonial ball drop for kids at 9 p.m. as well as the real deal for adults at midnight.

First Night Vienna is free and open to the public. There will be a main stage under an outside tent where the kids’ entertainment will run from 7 to 9 p.m. To see the full schedule of entertainment, visit the First Night Vienna website.

After the kids’ party closes at 9 p.m., there will be more music until midnight at the four venues along Church Street. Venues are located at the caboose parking lot; opposite Vienna Presbyterian Church; Caffe Amouri; and Vienna Presbyterian Church.

Food trucks and retail shops will also be selling food.
