DC Area Pricey For Renters — The District (and surrounding areas like Farifax County ) come in No. 2 as the most expensive rental market in the country, says the National Low Income Housing Coalition. The Washington area comes in behind Hawaii, where a person needs to make an average of $31.54 an hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment. Around here, that number is $28.25.
