Faulty Metro Inspections — Metro track inspectors and supervisors failed to accurately describe the severity of a deteriorating track condition that caused the derailment of a Silver Line train on July 29 near East Falls Church. [WAMU]

Book Drop To Help Kids — The Assistance League of Northern Virginia is participating in Make A Difference Day 2016, the nation’s largest day of community service, by holding a Children’s Book Drive. Bring new or gently-used books, suitable for elementary school age children, to drop-boxes located at Giant at Fox Mill, 2551 John Milton Drr., through Saturday, October 15. The donated books will be distributed to children who may not have a book to call their own.
