“Fairfax County Adopts Social and Racial Equity Policy”
So if your poor and a minority your cherished in Fairfax county?
Just don’t be in the majority and doing well cause then your bad bad bad.

    • RestonAssurance

You are = you’re. If you’re doing well, great for you – nothing bad will happen with this. That’s a terrible way to look down on others not doing well.

      • Amy Sue

Disagree. I’ve had to work hard for everything I have and would like a limit to the handouts. While I have no problem supporting people who truly need assistance, there is growing welfare creep in this country that rewards laziness and parasitic behavior. I

        • Tammi Petrine

          “laziness and parasitic behavior”
Please reflect on this pronouncement until you clearly KNOW for sure why some folks do well and others may not. If you have not walked in the moccasins of those needing help best not to pass judgments. Almost everyone I know has worked hard. Few are trust fund babies these days. Those that are don’t hang around in this neck of the woods.

          • Greg

“Those that are don’t hang around in this neck of the woods.”

Because they are taxed to death to pay for the laziness and parasitic behavior.

The poorest of the poor in Fairfax County live far better lives than the majority of the rest of the world. Some of them live better than those of us who work, whom you reliably seem to hate, and pay our own way and those who don’t.

          • Tammi Petrine

Seriously, Greg? The wealthy don’t stay anywhere life is not sweet. Period. It has little to do with taxes which are universal. VA is a pretty good tax state compared to most others!!!

No argument with standards in this country being higher than a lot of the 3rd world. Are 3rd world standards what you think will ever elevate the poor that you hate?

          • Amy Sue

You’ve obviously never lived in an area of the country where people make a career out of living on welfare. I know these people and I know they have lived off the system for generations. And I’m the one who’s paying for them through never ending taxes, higher medical bills, higher college bills, etc. Enough is enough.

          • Tammi Petrine

Amy Sue, I hear your frustration… I have read about families stuck on welfare that makes this a lifestyle. But have you ever considered that YOUR higher bills are the result of the wealthy not paying their fair share and a non-universal health care system? I don’t throw stones or myths around. Welfare millionaires = Fiction (unless you count multi-national corps.) Worked for Dept of Public Aid so know something about poor and disenfranchised. I have never been non-white or starving or had drug addicted parents. I am careful not to sling mud at poor people. Not all are perfect but who is? I do however not favor schemes to defraud our public safety nets like corporate medical welfare cheats who game the system to take advantage of elderly and ill folks. IF you want to stop government waste, start with outright corporate fraud.

          • OneReally

Which countries did you visit to see it first hand?

Also, don’t know about other countries poor people. We have enough here.

            USAID should be shut down.

          • OneReally

Amen. Grew up in a neighborhood of welfare and drug addicts.

Most have no desire to do anything other collect the next check and catch the next high.

          • Mike M

Amy, you are right. There are counties in the US, and in Virginia, where more than 30% of the population is on federal aid. Examples include people getting Social Security checks for being unable to continue their truck driving career because they are too obese. There are many families getting multiple monthly checks because more than one of them have had concussions. It is insane and will be the end of the greatest country the world has ever known. It simply cannot be sustained. I am with you. We could actually cover those in true need. We could actually offer truly transitional assistance. And we could then refit our infrastructure and pay down our lethal debt. But one Party wants more voters and they buy them! Don’t get me wrong the other Party is lethal in other ways.

    • Greg

Hudgins has often said as much and consistently acts that way.

    • Why do you bother?

And if you have no grammar skills?

      • OneReally

Sorry grandma grammar cop. I will try harder.

Your like my 7th grade English teacher (worthless pig) you cannot debate, so you pick on my grammar.

While I will tell you it’s horrible. My spelling is as well. So what!!!!
I grew up a special ed kid. I worked hard and now make a lot of money in the computer business.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • Fairfax County Clown Show

Instead of “more oversight in the name of fairness” the county and the school board should be offering the county teachers a competitive salary so we can keep the good teachers. This “Equity Policy” will require funding and create another bureaucratic layer to the bloated school system. No doubt when they plan for next years budget they will beg for more funding “to pay for the teachers”, but clearly its not their priority.
