by RestonNow.com December 8, 2017 at 1:50 pm 38 Comments

The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery on the 2200 block of Hunters Woods Plaza Thursday afternoon.

At around 2:30 p.m., an individual pointed a gun at a man when he refused to provide money. The victim ran away and was not injured, police said.

Police believe the suspect left the area in a car. He was described as a black man in his 30s. Detectives are investigating the incident.

Looks like people are up to no good in Shadowood once again. But please, someone tell me why we need more affordable housing in the Reston area and why we shouldn’t be bulldozing down these developments to build more expensive high rises

Every other week someone at that Safeway or Laundromat is getting robbed or stabbed. Or someone is trying to steal from the Wing Place. It’s a blight on Reston, but because they all vote Democrat it’s ignored. Oh and because the ethnicity of the perps

    • 40yearsinreston

      Hudgens would disagree

    • Greg

The libbies need the votes. Gerrymandering commences in just a few years. Once that’s done, income redistribution happens that much faster.

    • Greg

BTW — why isn’t a developer looking at redeveloping Shadowood? If ever there was au undervalued place in Reston that needed to be redone, it’s definitely Shadowood. I’d write it’s nickname, but it gets censored out.

      • FactsNotFeelings

You mean shadowhood? It’s clear as day that’s where this problem came from. I wish someone would come on through and bulldoze that place.

        • Greg

          Bingo!

    • Guest

Aw don’t pick on the Laundromat! I have to go there every weekend to clean a week’s worth of heavy, dirty overalls and work clothes, all caked with Russet Brown dirt and grime, just to help our mauve-colored Restonians have a good life! I use the really big washing machines ’cause they do a great job.

  • Mike M

This politically incorrect fact did not happen. Hunters Woods is a really charming, crime-free environment. People have said otherwise, but Kathy Hudgins says so. Her punk cop boss and the FCPD said so. I will believe my leaders. They know what’s best. This must be Russian-induced fake news.

    • meh

Clearly this disenfranchised voter just needs the wealth redistributed. Increase taxes, more government handouts and another term for Ken Plum and Cathy Hudgins will fix this. Trust me.

In fact it’s wrong to even mention this crime, this poor man is the real victim here. Between all the high-rises, increase in home values in the surrounding area and METRO this man had no choice.

WE should all just empty our pockets and give this poor man the money he needs. Because he could have a son that’s on his way to Bible Study or SAT Practice. And if you axe his mother or grand mother or aunt they’d say he didn’t do anything wrong and is a good boy

    • OneReally

Indeed. Please stop calling a spade a spade. 🙂

  • SuperCoop1280

So much for going to Wing Factory tonight with the kids. I actually think it might safer in Juarez but not by much.

    • Winz

Dude, you don’ want Wing Factory. You want Bon Chon. OR Hooters. Preferably Bon Chon

      • Wings!!

If only Reston had a Hooters.

        #HootersForReston

      • Chkitout1

Agree, if I’m going to be robbed I rather it happen at Hooters.

        • OneReally

Hand it over to the college co-eds there and they will rob you blind.

      • OneReally

        Bonchon???
        Ugh!!!
        They’re a kid’s meal chicken tender.

        • Willie Reston

You order tenders and have the nerve to call anything else childish?

        • Winz

Double fried wings from Bonchon are amazing. I can’t help it if you are blind to their goodness.

  • Huh

He ran away? He must have been pretty confident he was faster than a speeding bullet. I’m not gonna risk getting shot in the back for the $20 that’s in my wallet.

    • Bethany

Nah, usually people are awful shots.

  • Greg

There’s no crime there; and no panhandling in and about Spectrum — Harris Teeter.
    all fake news!

    • HoboJoe

Speaking of panhandling, someone needs to do something about the creepy guy outside the Target that just smiles and waives and tries to get the free handouts. He has that little hobo camp right behind those trees.

      • Greg

Remember the dude who resembled Santa? At least he would sweep the streets. Wonder whatever happened to him?

        • meh

Probably got stabbed over $20 or the gypsies, that troll inside the Target asking for money for their kids, took him. Speaking of, that was a new one

I was at the Target and some lady comes up to me with what looks to be like an ingredient list and trying to reach for it. Asks if I can help. Hands me a piece of paper asking for me to buy stuff for her family.

I’d expect that at Walmart but not Target

          • Greg

Target’s got a prime piece of property — vastly more valuable now that the RA central services facility has been upgraded to Taj Mahal status — so maybe some developer will come to their senses and build a right-side up building there to balance the upside-down one on the other end of Reston.

          • Greg

Incidentally, Herrity wrote a good piece on why there are so many panhandlers in Fairfax County — Hudgins? The silence from her speaks volumes.

          • 40yearsinreston

            Hudgins is an panhandler expert

          • Bethany

Meh – I was accosted in the Wegman’s parking lot by someone shoving a paper in my face asking for money!

          • 40yearsinreston

They are in plague proportions Fairfax and Loudon are starting to resemble Dubai

          • Heh

Parking lot of the Giant at Route 7 and Dranesville is where I always get approached by people trying to get me to read their piece of paper wanting money.

          • 40yearsinreston

            They are everywhere
            Hudgins free houses attract them

          • Mike M

See, the scum have discovered that Reston is full of saps who will fall for their panhandling art. I see people outside the Reston Harris Teeter handing Stink Bomb a bag of groceries. The panhandlers are like vermin. If there is an easy food supply they show up and stay until it is depleted. These Liberals are a part of the dysfunctional ecosystem. They enable these vermin to live on the miserable edge, rather than seek healthier alternatives.

        • Heh

I just about peed myself laughing whenever I saw that guy sweeping the street. Wife kept elbowing me “shut up, shut up, you’re being a Bad Role Model for the kids!”

      • Greg

I’m surprised that Target allows it on what is their private property.

It’s not illegal to panhandle in Fairfax County (but of course — more votes!), but it’s trespassing on private property. All they need do is give an oral or written warning and he could be arrested if he doesn’t leave when asked.

      • 40yearsinreston

        Hudgins welcoming neighbourhood

      • Huh

You talking about the guy who sits across from the gas station? I’ve never seen any panhandler outside the doors of Target itself. Nor have I been approached outside Harris Teeter.

      • Mike M

The problem is the Liberals keeping feeding him and encouraging him to live on the edge. Thanks to them – he can!

  • Tommorrow

Times are good and most people are flush with cash. Great. But there is a cycle for everything. Things may get funkier.
