Local police are investigating a three-person fatal shooting on the 2600 block of Black Fir Court in Reston.

A couple was killed in the incident. Police identified the victims as Scott Fricker, 48, and his 43-year-old wife, Buckley Kuhn-Fricker.

The third person involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, parties involved in the shooting are known to each other. Interviews are currently underway to determine the motive of the shooting and the relationship between the victim and the shooter.

No one has been charged as of 1 p.m. on Friday.

“There is no threat to public safety,” according to a statement released this morning by the police department.

According to The Washington Post, the family of four moved into the home roughly three to four months ago. Other people were inside the home at the time of the incident, but no one else was injured.

A police department spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

“There is no threat to public safety, . . .”

Well thanks, officer, but people who shoot and kill even people they know presumably over a petty disagreement are probably by default a threat to public safety.

Mmmmmm, maybe one of the victims was a suicide after murdering the other.

I think you’re right, considering there’s no mention of an arrest. The police wouldn’t just willy-nilly say that there’s nothing to worry about if there was a known very-recent murderer still on the loose.

Perhaps. But can they know that definitively at this point? I doubt it. This statement has become routine when they don’t believe there is some nut actively running amok. But it is an overstatement. Perhaps I underestimate the likelihood of public panic.

“The third person involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.” And probably faces a lengthy prison sentence after trial. I wonder if it was one of the “family of four.”

        • Nah

If the police are trying to determine “the relationship between the victim and the shooter” it couldn’t be a member of the family.

            That’s an update.

My condolences to the families, friends and acquaintances of the deceased.
