(Updated at 3:25 p.m.) Herndon Police officers are investigating reports that gun shots were fired in the 900 block of Alabama Drive, the department says.
According to the Herndon Police Department, the incident involves a dark gray Dodge SUV, possibly the Journey model, with “scraping along rear passenger door.”
Police are advising the public to stay away from the area. No ambulance or medical services have been requested so far, the department tells Reston Now.

Fairfax County police are asking the public to avoid the South Lakes Village Shopping Center area after a robbery was reported at the BB&T Bank there.
The Fairfax County Police Department said at 10:50 a.m. that officers are responding to 11100 South Lakes Drive in Reston.
“Suspect left the area on foot wearing all black with sunglasses and a mask,” the FCPD said. “No injuries reported. Please avoid the area.”

The Herndon Police Department is asking the public to avoid the Dulles Park area of Elden Street while officers conduct an active investigation.
Police say an armed robbery occured in the 1000 block of Elden Street shortly before 10 a.m.
“Please avoid the area so that officers may conduct a thorough investigation,” the HPD said.

Updated 12/19/19 — Police arrested a Reston man in connection to the incident.Â
Earlier: Fairfax County Police are conducting a suspicious package investigation at The Spectrum at Reston Town Center.
Police said on Twitter that several businesses were evacuated as a result of the investigation. People are being asked to avoid the area.
It was not immediately clear which businesses were affected.
