After more than a year of preparation, a new juice bar in the Junction Square neighborhood of Herndon has announced its opening date.
Vb Juice Bar plans to open on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The business hopes to transform the juice bar experience by offering “total ingredient transparency,” according to the company.

A Loudoun County couple plans to debut a new food truck that offers a selection of Afghan Tex-Mex in Herndon and Reston later this month.
Zainab Shoja and her husband Yousef plan to serve puffy tacos — a concept created in San Antonio — at the Sprint Campus (12525 Sunrise Valley Drive) on Jan. 27 and at Century Link (2900 Towerview Road) on Jan. 30. The food truck, called “Zainy’s Flyin’ Grill” will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Inspired by their Afghan heritage, Shoja says the food truck will also serve “kabobco” — a cross between a taco and kabob roll — bowls — and quesadillas. Meat options include chicken kabob, steak kabob, and gyro.
The food truck, which is registered to run in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, will first debut in Lansdowne at the Camden Apartments from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 25).
Shoja says she hopes the business adds a unique product to the local food scene.
“We grew up eating kabobs. We both love Mexican food,” Shoja said. “We wanted to stand out.”

A new restaurant is serving up Vietnamese cuisine in Herndon.
Alo Vietnam is now open at 2321C Dulles Station Boulevard. A soft opening was held last month.
The restaurant also expects to open a Reston location at Faraday Park (1831 Michael Faraday Drive).
A representative for the store did not indicate when that location will open.

A new barbecue restaurant chain is now open at a shopping center along Sunrise Valley Drive in Herndon.
Mission BBQ opened earlier this month at 2445 Centreville Road, Suite 34b, at the Village Center at Dulles.
The restaurant chain has locations in 16 states, including 16 spots in Virginia.

A new Indian vegetarian spot is now open in Herndon.
Adyar Ananda Bhavan held a soft opening this past Sunday (Dec. 1) at 645 Elden Street. The restaurant serves traditional South and North Indian Food and select Chinese items.

Parking spaces are available in the front and back of the building. A business representative told Reston Now they plan to host a grand opening sometime this month.

A new taco restaurant is adding itself to the local Mexican cuisine scene.
According to county permits, Rico’s Tacos is set to open at 1258 Elden Street. So far, no signage at the restaurant has gone up.
It’s unclear if the restaurant is another location of an establishment with the same name in Laurel. The owner did not return a request for comment from Reston Now.
The county approved a permit for the business on Oct. 10.

A new ramen restaurant is coming this month to Herndon Centre at 482 Elden Street.
UMAI Ramen and Rice Bowl‘s soft opening date is set for Saturday, Sept. 21. The family-owned business will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The spot used to belong to Tipicos Gloria, a Central American eatery, before it relocated about 150 feet away to 470 Elden Street last year.

Local elected officials gathered at Cafe Rio to celebrate its grand opening at Herndon Centre today (Wednesday).
The restaurant, which takes up space formerly occupied by McDonald’s, is located at 330 Elden Street.
Cafe Rio sells burritos, salads, enchiladas, nachos and other Mexican staples.

Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, a Mexican restaurant that serves fresh Mexican food, is opening soon in Herndon.
A company representative told Reston Now that the restaurant plans to open on August 14, so long as utility work is completed. The restaurant will be located at 330 Elden Street, the former space of McDonald’s, which closed last year.
Cafe Rio sells burritos, salads, enchiladas, quesadilla, nachos and other Mexican staples.  The chain has other locations, including one in Fairfax, Burke and Manassas.
The opening date is tentative.

After more than two years of waiting, Aslin Beer Company is finally moving into its planned tasting room and bar in Herndon.
Northern Virginia Living Magazine reported that the tasting room — which closed due to a dispute with neighbors — plans to open by the end of the year.
An exact opening date has not been announced yet. The company did not return several requests for comment from Reston Now.
The Town of Herndon’s Heritage Preservation Review Board approved plans on July 17.  The new location — which has undergone several design revisions — will include terrace seating and rooftop bar.Â

It’s official: a new fast food Japanese restaurant is now open in Dulles Park in Herndon.
Quickway Japanese Hibachi opened at 1040 Elden Street. The restaurant uses the teppanyaki grilling style in a quick-service restaurant setting. Its menu includes bento boxes, hibachi, and combos with vegetables, rice or noodles.

Kabobi by the Helmand, a restaurant featuring Afghan cuisine, held its soft opening yesterday (May 29) in Herndon.
Owner Khaleeq Ahmad told Reston Now that the restaurant finally opened after delays with the permitting process. Ahmad said his restaurant offers “Afghan fusion” cuisine. It is located at 2321 Dulles Station Boulevard, Suite A — a short walk from the Innovation Center Metro station. Â
The restaurant in Herndon offers a mix of traditional Afghan cuisine as appetizers, salads, bowls and wraps. Items range from “kabuli pallow,” a traditional Afghan dish with rice baked with chunk of lamb, raising and glazed carrots — to eggplants and mushroom wrapped in fresh bread.
The chain of Kabobi restaurants started in San Francisco in 1982 and expanded to Boston, Baltimore and Chicago. It is modeled after a sister restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland called Kabobi from the Helmand.

Kabobi by the Helmand, a restaurant featuring Afghan cuisine, plans to start serving diners in May.
Owner Khaleeq Ahmad told Reston Now that the permitting process has led to delays. The restaurant’s next inspection is this Friday (April 12). If all goes well, Ahmad said he expects the restaurant to open next month.
Ahmad previously told Reston Now that Kabobi by the Helmand will offer Zeke’s Coffee in the morning for commuters and locals before switching to Afghan cuisine for lunch and dinner. The menu in Herndon will resemble the one from the restaurant’s partner, Kabobi from The Helmand, in Baltimore, he said.
The restaurant’s spot at 2321 Dulles Station Blvd, Suite A is a short walk from the Innovation Center Metro station.
(Updated at 2:55 p.m.) Diners at the Noodles World Kitchen in Herndon tonight (March 20) can support a local public school in Herndon.
The management at the Noodles World Kitchen at 2405 Centreville Road will donate 25 percent of tonight’s sales to the Lutie Lewis Coates Elementary School.
Customers who eat the noodle chain — formerly known as Noodles and Company — between 4-8 p.m. can tell the restaurant staff that they are supporting Coates.
