Recycling Event Returns — R4 Collection Day (Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Reston!) is back at Reston Town Center on Friday, April 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring computers, components, electronics, cell phones, paper for shredding, compact fluorescent bulbs, eyeglasses, and hearing aids. Participating organizations include Secured Shred, Turtle Wings, and more.
Help Pets In Need — GoodDogz.org and Reston Town Center are teaming up for a pet supplies drive through May 7. Items such as dog beds, blankets, toys, grooming products, leashes, and crates can be donated in building lobby collection bins in advance of the May 7 Pet Fiesta at RTC. Items will be given to organizations supporting pets in need.
Large Jump in Reston Office Rents — Rents for offices close to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station have jumped since the Silver Line began running in July 2014. According to real estate analysts JLL, average rents have increased 23.6 percent since 2011 for all properties located within a quarter mile of the station, and they increased 22.4 percent in 2015 for buildings in the Commerce Metro Center complex, located immediately south of the station.
