Mediterranean Restaurant in Reston Town Center Closes

by RestonNow.com January 5, 2018 at 10:30 am 14 Comments

Neyla Mediterranean Bistro in Reston Town Center is permanently closed, according to the restaurant’s website. A store representative was not immediately available for comment.

The restaurant was located in Georgetown prior to closing in the summer of 2014. It opened on 11898 Market St. in 2015.

The menu featured mezze with baby artichokes, roasted eggplant, stuffed grape leaves, chicken shawarma slider and middle eastern kibbeh. Main dishes included flatbreads, salads, lamp chops, a mixed grill for two, falafel and more.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

There is still a lot of competition in the restaurant biz, even in the RTC.When the owners of Paolo closed and re-opened with the Mediterranean concept they knew it was a risky proposition. (It still looked a lot like Paolo, only with more beige.) The food was pretty good, but they over time they seem to have lost some of their lunch, dinner and happy hour business, too. Maybe the RTC parking scheme is partially to blame? I think running a successful restaurant concept it is just a tough way to make a buck these days, way too much competition just about everywhere…ppl vote with their feet.

I have nothing good to say about this restaurant, won’t miss it.
Hope the people who worked there are taken care of and find work elsewhere quickly.

      Agree, overpriced and slow.

  • Fact

No matter whose at fault but BXP is still the most hated company in Reston area.

The ruination of RTC is almost complete. It’s so sad.

No doubt the parking has driven some people away, which has effected business at some establishments. However, as someone who works in the center, it is still continually busy and the popular restaurants and shops are still crowded. The problem is they implemented it without a good plan. If they want to keep paid parking, they’re going to have to attract businesses that are popular enough for people to overlook the parking. So far, the businesses closing were never very busy or popular. They keep saying they want to attract younger professionals to Reston and this why they’re adding all of the luxury condos, etc. Yet the shops and events are all geared towards older shoppers and families. I personally don’t mind paying for parking if the experience warrants it, but shopping at Chico’s followed by dinner at Uncle Julio’s isn’t exactly worthy of a drive and paid parking. If they had some more popular shops and a livelier food scene, parking wouldn’t be an issue. Even the movie theatre hasn’t yet modernized. As One Loudoun grows, it is really going to give RTC a run for their money.

One of the problems is that the owners hired the wrong person to run the place.

Very yummy food, but abut twice as expensive as it should be.
