Italian Restaurant to Open in Reston Town Center Next Year

Fox Restaurant Concepts plans to open its North Italia concept in Reston Town Center by early 2019.

The new restaurant, which offers a contemporarily Italian model, will take up space at 11898 Freedom Drive in the Fountain One building. The space was previously occupied by Neyla Mediterranean Bistro, which closed earlier this year.

The North Italia restaurant concept is the second in the D.C.-region. The restaurant offers pizza, salads and home-made pizzas.

Boston Properties issued the following statement about the opening on Tuesday (August 14):

“We are delighted that North Italia will become part of the Reston Town Center community this winter.  Their passion for handmade Italian cuisine and heartfelt customer engagement is unparalleled.  They will be a compelling addition to our vibrant tenant mix,” said Stephanie Friedman, director of retail leasing at Boston Properties.

Other new tenants expected to open by next year include lululemon, Muse Paintbar, and Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls.

Updated Headline for 2019: Italian Restaurant to Close in Reston Town Center Next Year

  • vdiv

Wait. There was an Italian restaurant there before Neyla called Paolo’s. Il Fornaio further down Market St. also closed recently. There are currently two other pizza places in RTC, &pizza and Vapiano’s.

How about a German restaurant? A Gordon Biersch would be great to have.

I went to the North Italia location in Santa Monica earlier this year and it was awesome – comparable to Alta Strada in Mosaic but better IMO. MUCH better than Vapiano, although maybe not quite as kid friendly, so perhaps they’ll serve different niches. I’m excited.

How about nothing until paid parking goes away.

      • vdiv

Alas that is not going away. But no paid parking nights and weekends, for now.

        • Why do you bother?

That would change if people would honor the boycott. Sadly, too many people can’t think past their own noses.

Honor the boycott? You’d have to agree with it to honor it & many people don’t mind paying a small fee or going after hours. I really don’t see the issue.

Despite the article text (which focuses solely on the pizzas), I think this menu (judging by other locations) will be more full-service, whereas Vapiano is much more casual and &pizza is pretty much for takeout (what – there’s one table inside?). I think this will fill the void left by Il Fornaio – looks pretty similar to what that offered. (I only went to Paolo’s once or twice back in the day, but that was the company decision to change it to their sister restaurant Neyla )

Or maybe a Hooters? Reston needs a Hooters.

      • vdiv

Reston definitely needs a Hooters, but this is the RTC so something more upscale, how about a Tilted Kilt? 🙂

          Upscale ?
How about a fried chicken shack

      • Why do you bother?

What it needs more is free parking.

  • Coin parking meters

Wish I could pay for parking with my coins, the consile is full and coffee cup wont fit now.

  • Greg

Remember — there’s a Carrabba’s Italian Grill down the street with lots of free parking.

And let’s have a moment of silence for Macaroni Grill.

    • The Original Drive By Critic

I don’t miss Mac Grill for any reason, and Not Your Average Joe is well, pretty average , to be frank.

No worries. All of that sprawling wasteland will soon be replaced with “iconic” towers filled with “workforce” housing.

RTC needs to step their game up when it comes to full service restaurants. Let’s get some real Italian, French, steakhouses, etc. Look at DC and MD. They have paid parking too

    • 30yearsinreston

They used to have them till BPX drove away their customers

  • General_Tso

We need better for Town Center. In some places paid parking doesn’t matter because their better than Town Center. Let’s get real Italian, Steakhouses, French food, etc. Elevate it to something it hasn’t been before.
