Pet of the Week: Lucy, a suspected part Maine Coon who loves bonding with people

This week’s Pet of the Week is Lucy, a suspected part Maine Coon who loves bonding with people.

Here’s what her friends at Fancy Cats Rescue Team had to say about her:

Lucy is a sweet girl who likes to purr. She’s a longhair domestic who was rescued out of a box at 7 weeks old. She is now 3 years and 3 months old and weighs in at 9 pounds. Because of her size, markings and a meow that is often more of a “trill” than meow, she may be part Maine Coon. She’s been raised in an adult household, purely indoors, and has not been around other animals very much. I’ve been told she is timid around other fur babies in these situations.

She loves people bonding time and likes to lay right next to her person on the couch or in bed at night. She’s a good sleeper and won’t wake you at night. She’s very happy to lay on the foot of the bed and just know you are close by. She’s a quiet girl other than when she hasn’t seen her person for hours or if she’s craving treats. She will do figure eights around your legs, purr loudly and talk to you in both situations. You can’t help but laugh and scratch her.

Her favorite toy is a cat fishing pole, and she loves to chase the red light from a laser pointer. She runs and slides on hard floors because of the fluffy hair on her paws! She does need semi-regular combing of her hair and benefits from sanitary trims under her tail. She had a “lion cut” a few weeks ago and loved it, thanking mom for how much cooler she felt and reducing hairballs in her tummy!

She may be a little anxious while adjusting to new people and a new living situation but rest assured it will pass.

Are you and Lucy the perfect match?
