Meet Skeeter, a Bichon Frise and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix available for adoption.

Here is what his friends at Safe Haven Puppy Rescue have to say about him:

This little guy has it all!!!! Skeeter is the sweetest, friendliest little guy — just a WONDERFUL boy!!! He was an owner surrender and they have had him since he was a puppy. He is now 5 years old. The family purchased Skeeter from a breeder so we know his breed and age exactly. We can’t believe someone could give up their family member like this, but their circumstances changed and they are now traveling for extended periods of time so they made this decision.

The good news is that they have taken good care of Skeeter, and he is very well socialized. He LOVES children, other dogs and cats too. Skeeter hasn’t met a walking, breathing being that he does not love! He is also housetrained. Sound like the perfect doggie for you? Let us know and we’ll send an application! Skeeter’s adoption fee is $395

Email [email protected] for an application!

Are you and Skeeter a match? If so, let us know and our sponsor, Becky’s Pet Care, will send you some treats and prizes.

Meet Jackie, a Boxer and Labrador Retriever mix available for adoption.

Here is what her friends at Boxer Rescue and Adoption Inc. have to say about her:

Jackie has come a long way since she came into rescue. She was so afraid of everything, but now is far more outgoing. She loves taking walks, but needs some training in walking nicely without pulling.

Jackie takes treats gently, loves attention, is crate trained and housebroken. She is a pretty girl who loves being in the yard with us and enjoys her creature comforts when inside. She has a nice soft blanket that she snuggles into.

When our volunteer first started walking her, she had her tail tucked, but now, she’s just full of enthusiasm to be out and about. She is not a fence jumper or a digger and does like other dogs. We’re not sure about cats, though. She would probably be too much for toddlers.

If you are interested in meeting Jackie or any of our other rescues, please email [email protected] for an adoption application and arrange to visit Jackie or any of our other rescues.

Are you and Jackie a match? If so, let us know and our sponsor, Becky’s Pet Care, will send you some treats and prizes.

Meet Geezer, a lovable 6-year-old dog available for adoption.

Here is what his friends at Safe Haven Puppy Rescue have to say about him:

Geezer is one of those very special dogs that don’t come along every day.

At 6 years old, he is polite, mannerly, and just wants to be someone’s heart dog. Geezer is great in the house, loves other dogs and does well with cats too! Most of all, he is just one of those dogs who steals your heart within 5 minutes of meeting him. Calm, but still has a touch of wiggly-ness when you talk sweet to him.

Do you want to go for walks? Geezer is up for that! No pulling on the leash business with him. He makes going on walks enjoyable — walking nicely beside you on a loose leash. Rides? Those are OK with him too! If you enjoy a nice lunch at an outdoor dining establishment, he’ll lies down right there by the table and wait patiently as you finish your meal. Then, go home and cuddle beside you, if you like, or if you really want to make him happy, give him a tummy rub.

He doesn’t require a lot, but deserves so much more than what he demands. Geezer will be a great family dog — he is good with kids. His ideal spot would be with a single person or family who really wants him to be part of that family.

Are you and Geezer a match? If so, let us know and our sponsor, Becky’s Pet Care, will send you some treats and prizes.

(Updated at 2:15 p.m. after Bella was reunited with her owner.)

Police in Herndon, along with the help of residents, reunited a service dog with her owner Wednesday.

According to Jane Ross, Herndon PD information specialist, service dog Bella went missing after her owner was involved in a minor car accident at about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Elden and Grant streets.

“When [her owner] opened the door, Bella unfortunately got out of the car and ran,” Ross said.

Herndon Police used their social media pages to spread information about Bella and engage the public in helping track the 8-month-old Anatolian Shepherd mix down.

Bella was spotted by a citizen at about 11 a.m. Wednesday near the police station, Ross said. Police officers along with members of the public attempted to reach the dog, who was eventually corralled at about 12:10 p.m. by an employee at Flagship Car Wash (632 Grant St.) and reunited with her owner, safe and sound.

Meet Kodiak, a handsome Labrador Retriever mix.

Here is what his friends at Safe Haven Puppy Rescue have to say about him:

One HANDSOME fella. Kodiak is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix that weighs 55 pounds. Kodiak is incredibly sweet, loving and friendly; loves other dogs and absolutely loves all people!

Kodiak came to the shelter when we pulled him from a neighboring county’s high-kill shelter. When Kodiak came to us, he was heartworm-positive. He has now been treated and is ready to move on to a better life.

Kodiak would love nothing more than a family to love and a home to call his own. Can you give Kodiak his forever home?

Kodiak is up-to-date on all vaccines, is micro-chipped and has been neutered. His adoption fee is $350.

This week’s Pet of the Week is Diesel, available for adoption from the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association. Here is what his foster mom, Lucinda, had to say about him:

Diesel loves going for hikes and runs, and will be a terrific companion for someone who enjoys the outdoors with him. Despite his energy, he is calm when at home and has been given free rein of the house at night with no issues. He is crate-trained and housebroken.

Diesel came to us very overweight, but has started to slim down. His forever home should be committed to maintaining his activity so he can get to the vet’s recommended weight. Diesel is about 2 1/2 years old and weighs about 42 pounds.

Diesel has barked at some tall men and a few dogs, probably due to previous experiences. He’s been great with our dog but I don’t think he’d be good with cats or small kids. He’ll benefit from some training and positive reinforcement to overcome some bad habits, like pulling on walks. I think his new home should have some experience with working dogs.

He loves the water and riding in cars.

Diesel is being fostered in Reston. Questions? Email sendamessagetoadam@gmail.com or submit your application now.

Are you and Diesel a match? If so, let us know and our sponsor, Becky’s Pet Care, will send you some treats and prizes.
