A fire broke out earlier this afternoon in apartments on the 11400 block of North. Shore Drive.
Crews quickly worked to control the fire, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The fire was contained to an apartment unit.

Lake Thoreau pool won’t be the only pool that’s closed for the 2020 season.
In an email to members, Reston Association announced that North Shore Pool will be closed as well due to planned construction and maintenance projects at and around the facility.
Renovation of the dock at Lake Anne Plaza is set to begin this month. The lake canal and plaza area will also be dredged, according to Reston Association.
The following improvements are planned over the spring and summer:
- Concrete deck repairs
- Re-plaster of main pool
- Replacement of tile and coping stone
- Replacement/upgrade of facility fencing – including installation of railings for the main deck staircase
- Replacement of deck equipment (access chair, lifeguard stands, ladders, railings)
- Replacement of the shade structure
- Replacement of the flooring surface in the bathhouse
- Replacement of cabinets, countertops in the office and bathrooms
RA says that its 13 other pools with remain open with adjusted schedules in order to accommodate members who use the pools at Lake Thoreau or North Shore. Anyone with questions should contact [email protected] for more information.
Lake Thoreau Pool — which was originally built in the 80s — is also set to get a facelift.
Locals who frequent the Lake Anne Service Center might have noticed that the auto maintenance shop has been closed recently.
Co-owner Bobby Kapoor told Reston Now that an electrical issue on Feb. 2. caused the temporary closure.
Tech crews have been working on fixing the issue, and an electrician is set to come out tomorrow (Feb. 13), he said. Once it’s fixed, Kapoor said that he will call the county to come out for an inspection.
He’s hopeful that the Lake Anne Service Center (11410 North Shore Drive) will be back to business this week.

Tweaks to the redevelopment proposal of the Lake Anne Fellowship House will head to Reston Association’s Design Review Board for consideration on September 18.
The plan calls for redeveloping Lake Anne Fellowship House, an affordable housing community for seniors on North Shore Drive, into a new, eight-story, multi-family building for seniors. The 240-unit building will include a crafts room, community gardens, and a garage. A terrace will overlook North Shore Drive.
The remainder of the property will include up to 72 market-rate, for-sale townhouses to help finance the senior housing construction project.
In July, the DRB suggested a series of changes, including redesigning the southeast corner of the multi-family building away from North Shore Drive, redesigning the building’s parking garage, rethinking the placement of a row of townhouses away from North Shore Drive, more landscaping, and more contemporary architecture that uses flat roofs, rooftop terraces and metal canopies.
Fellowship Square Foundation and the Community Preservation and Development Corporation redesigned the multifamily building by shifting the parking garage from the base of the building to allow for more landscaping and further distance from North Shore Drive.
The garage wall will be screened by louvers or metal panels. To address concerns about the placement of two rows of townhouses, the applicant plans to increase the space between some rows by three feet. Architectural designs will also include more modern and contemporary elements.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive in the conference center. The project will go before the county’s Planning Commission on October 4 and the county’s Board of Supervisors on October 16.
