A business on the 1000 block of Herndon Parkway was robbed on Sept. 14 (Friday) at around 5 p.m., according to the Herndon Police Department.
Police say the suspect presented a note demanding cash while displaying a black handgun. They issued the following description of the suspect: “6′ tall, slim, black male, wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeved, navy blue sweatshirt/jacket, black backpack, sunglasses, and a dark-colored du-rag under a dark colored baseball hat.”
The case is under investigation and no other information was immediately available.
Police are determining whether or not to charge a woman who they believe scratched and attempted to bite two police officers on Tuesday (Sept. 11).
Local law enforcement responded to a report about a domestic assault at the 1900 block of Barton Hill Road around 7:33 p.m and found a woman experiencing an “apparent mental health crisis,” according to the Fairfax County Police Department. The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident to determine if the woman should be charged.
In a separate incident, the Herndon Police Department is looking for a suspect who may have robbed a business in the 1000 block of Herndon Parkway on Sept. 14 at around 5:15 p.m. The suspect, who was described as a slim African American man, displayed a handgun and ran away from the scene, according to police.
The police department is also looking for information about an assault near Herndon Library on Sept. 14. According to the Herndon Police Department, an individual was assaulted between 8-8:30 p.m. on the path between Center Street and Park Avenue. Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office made arrests this week linked to public intoxication and alcohol consumption.
On Sept. 14 at around 2 p.m., sheriff’s deputies charged Erik Vanzandt, 19, of Herndon with driving under the influence. The arrest was made after sheriff’s deputies arrived at the 44000 block of Waxpool Road in Ashburn for a report about a crash involving a parked car. Vanzandt was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.
In a separate incident, Jason Wesley, 26, of Herndon was arrested and charged with public intoxication and possession of marijuana on Sept. 12 at around 8:47 a.m. The arrest was made after a sheriff’s deputy saw the man walking in an unbalanced manner in a parking lot near the 46000 block of Community Plaza in Sterling. Wesley was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.

Local police are searching for two masked men who authorities believed robbed a 7-Eleven in Reston early Tuesday morning.
An employee at the store reported he was robbed at gunpoint around 1:10 a.m. Two black men wearing masks entered the store at 2303 Soapstone Drive and took tobacco products and cash, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
The men were described as “average build” and with a height of between 5’10” and 6′.

The Fairfax County Police Department has released new information about an attempted robbery on Tuesday at the 2200Â block of Hunters Woods Plaza.
At around 5:15 a.m., a resident told police that several young men attempted to rob him at gunpoint. When one of the men implied he had a gun, the resident ran away. Two gunshots were fired and the group dispersed.
The man described the group as five Hispanic men who were at least 18 years old. Multiple shell casings were found on the scene and one bullet entered another resident’s home.
No one was harmed and nothing was taken. The incident remains under investigation. A helicopter-assisted search following the incident was unsuccessful in tracking the suspects.

An armed man robbed a purse from a woman as she and her five-year-old son walked home along a wooded path near the 11600 block of Stoneview Square yesterday at 3:20 p.m.
The incident forced Terraset Elementary School and South Lakes High School to go under “secure the building” status — a condition in which individuals are not allowed to enter or exit the building.
Police said the man was armed with a handgun and jumped out of the bushes. He took the woman’s purse, pushed both victims to the ground and ran into the woods.
The woman and her son were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police believe the suspect is a 30- to 35-year-old black man with a mustache. He was last seen wearing a white sweater with “USA” on the front, black pants and white shoes.

An armed man was arrested on Thursday (March 22) after hitting a police officer with his fist and spitting on him, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
Police arrested Carlos Cherry, 37, at the intersection of Elm Tree Drive and Sycamore View Lane in the Herndon area around 4:15 p.m.. Police said Cherry appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, brandishing a firearm and intoxication in public.
In a separate incident on Friday (March 23) around noon, a resident found a window broken and items from inside a home on the 12000 block of Laurel Glade Court.
On Sunday, police pursued a wanted individual from Hampton on the 13100 block of Worldgate Drive. After a chase, the suspect, Warren Wendell Maxwell, 25, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
In a separate incident on Sunday, Ricardo Sanchez was charged with strangulation and attempted sexual assault. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of Bicksler Court, according to the Herndon Police Department.

Yesterday, we also reported that a Maryland man was killed over the weekend when he lost control over his car on Baron Cameron Avenue and hit a traffic signal pole. The cause of the incident remains under investigation. Alcohol was not a factor, police said.

Herndon police are searching for a suspect in connection with a robbery at the Burger King (598 Elden St.) on Friday.
Just as the store opened around 6:15 a.m., the suspect confronted staff with a gun and demanded money. Staff filled a bag the suspect gave them with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police, according to police. The suspect then left by foot. No injuries were reported.
