The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch from 2 p.m. Tuesday to late Tuesday night for Reston, Northern Virginia and most of the Washington, DC area.

SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP LATE TODAY INTOÂ TONIGHT. THESE STORMS WILL BE SLOW MOVING AND CAPABLE OFÂ PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WILLÂ BE POSSIBLE IN AN HOUR. WITH SATURATED GROUND…THESE RATESÂ COULD RESULT IN FLASH FLOODING.
SMALL STREAMS AND URBAN AREAS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO
RAPID RISES OF WATER ONTO NORMALLY DRY AREAS.A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEADÂ TO FLASH FLOODING.
