Reston-Based Exec Fired After Racial Remarks — The executive director of the Reston-Based National Association for Music Education is out of a job after he reportedly told a diversity forum that blacks and Latinos lack the “keyboard skills” needed for the profession. The association said last week it has parted ways with its executive director and CEO, Michael Butera. Butera says his remarks have been portrayed inaccurately. [Richmond Times-Dispatch]

      Why not? Because this guy said (or is reported to have said) something stupid?

    Even the Times-Dispatch doesn’t have the exact quote, so I’ll reserve judgment. I know we live in a country where papers like this function as a communications arm of the Democratic National Committee and race-baiting is a primary mission in heavily black cities like Richmond. (I haven’t seen this locally until now.) Note if a white racists says something stupid it’s national news and the person gets canned. If a spate of lethal polar bear hunting happens or a rap hit uses the word “cracker” you’ll never hear about it unless you watch Fox or run into it personally.
